The Design Process

CORE Architecture understands that great design is a collaborative process that starts with the vision of the client and ends with the constructed project serving its economic purpose in an efficient, beautiful, and profound way. We strive to provide you the opportunity to realize your vision through meticulous communication, innovation and technical expertise throughout the design process.

Our firm utilizes both hand-sketches and computer generated 3D modeling, using the latest technology to develop the design with your continuous input. The effect is a design that will optimize your control over your project and realize your vision.

Case Study: Villaggio Retail Development Design Process

The client desired a unique, upscale shopping, dining and office development for the highly visible site on the Harmony Road corridor in growing southeastern Fort Collins. CORE Architecture was asked to develop their architectural vision for the project, and responded by providing concept sketches for each building within the context of the provided master plan. The sketches communicated architectural detailing, elevations, roof forms, wall and window types, materials, building footprint, massing, entry points, exterior seating areas, and circulation that would ultimately form an essential framework for each building’s design.

The information CORE Architecture developed was conveyed to each architect-of-record working on the individual buildings for adherence to the design direction. At the request of the client, CORE Architecture also participated in critique sessions both with the client alone and with the architects-of-record throughout the design process in order to ensure each design remained on target for the developer’s vision.

Each new building within the overall development has adhered to the framework of building design elements provided by CORE Architecture with the developer’s insight, thus ensuring continuity of design for the entire project. In addition to overall development design services, CORE Architecture also served as architect-of-record for 2580 Harmony, the 3-story, 18,000 square foot mixed-use building on the project (building 7).
